To maintain a scent-free environment for those suffering from chemical sensitivities, asthma, and allergies; we use non-toxic unscented cleaners, and burn no candles or incense. The practitioners do not wear perfumes or heavily scented products, and we ask the same of our clients/patients. When Kelly uses essential oils with clients, she provides proper ventilation and uses them only in the treatment room. She does not infuse the oils in any way and uses them conservatively with each individual client's needs in mind. The oils used are of those of Young Living, offering only oils of the highest quality.
We have a lending library with unique books on women's health, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shiatsu, diet therapy, and other healing traditions. Books by authors such as Bob Flaws, Louise Haye, and Carolyn Myss, along with many others, are included in our collection. Clients may check out these books for a month at a time.
Our Practice - History
We, Jill and Kelly, both attended the Minnesota Center for Shiatsu Study's 500 hour program in 1996, now called Centerpoint. This full-time program integrated academic studies in Traditional Chinese Medicine, with Western Anatomy and Physiology, as well as hands on training in therapeutic touch and Shiatsu technique. There was also a supervised clinic component and time to grow as individual healers. Shiatsu as a healing art has the philosophy of "The healer is healed while healing." Much of Shiatsu therapy involves the client and the practitioner integrating self-care into a lifestyle that extends beyond the treatment session. This philosophy fits well with our lifelong passion for wellness and learning. Over the years we have continued our personal and professional studies and love integrating this knowledge into our treatments.
After our graduation in 1997, we started our practice in Linden Hills. We began by sharing a treatment room and reaching out in community events like the Linden Hills festival, Joyce Food Shelf Carnival, and volunteering at the Linden Hills Co-op. Dr. Sheila Fahey D.C. was our neighbor at the Linden Hills location and we found our treatment styles were very complementary, and many of our clients came for both treatments.
We continue to reach out with occasional on-site events like providing chair massage at the MN Zoo Summer Concert Series, yearly Open Houses, and offering education or donations to many organizations like the Inspired Women's Retreat, Linden Hills Co-op, Dragonfly Project, Harriet Tubman Alliance, Sexual Violence Center, Great River Greening, nurses at Methodist Hospital, Children's Cancer Research Fund.
